Veterans Day Celebration at the Joint Forces Training Base

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. - The VA Long Beach Health Care System, American Veterans and the Joint Forces Training Base will host a Veterans Day Celebration from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 11, 2008, in building 244, at the Veterans Services Center.

The Veterans Services Center houses non-profit organizations to address the many needs of veterans, servicemembers, and their families. Services include health services, employment counseling and training, educational assistance, and family support services.

More than 20 organizations will be present to provide information on

Veteran's services and benefits. Entertainment, family activities, and

lunch will be provided to Veterans and their families.

Surrounding the services center, a park will be developed to provide an oasis for Veterans and their families. The park will include a veterans' memorial to honor all service members, seating areas for enjoyment of the park, historical walk of honor, athletic field and a children's playground that is ADA compliant. To accomplish the building of the park, the Joint Forces Training Base is partnering with numerous veterans' organizations, volunteer organizations, and the city of Los Alamitos. A dedication ceremony for the AMVET American Veterans Park will include a Veterans Services Center overview presentation.
