International Desk
This year´s WAIF, held in Abuja, Nigeria, and organised by the Commonwealth Business Council, Government of Nigeria, Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) and ECOWAS will build on the successes of the CBC´s Africa Investment Series by bringing together leaders from International Business, government and organisations with an interest in promoting the West Africa Region.

The Forum will be opened on the 30th March at a Gala Dinner sponsored GT Bank and Hosted by the President of Nigeria and the President of ECOWAS.

West African economies are currently experiencing high levels of growth, bolstered by an increasing international interest, rising commodity prices and regional and domestic reform. The 2009 forum´s theme ´Development through Economic Reform and Global Partnerships´ will capitalise on this momentum, help drive up the profile of the region as a strong investment destination, and bring together the required stakeholders to make a serious impact in the region.

In his address to last year´s Forum HE Umaru Musa Yar´Adua said "the issues lines up for discussion are critical for our march towards 2020... Interestingly these are also the key issues in our NEEDS 2 and Seven Point Agenda". Professor Steve Godfrey, Managing Director of the CBC said "this is a critical moment for Africa, as it seeks to protect and sustain the economic growth of the last decade".

With sessions focusing on topics such as, banking Integration between West Africa and the rest of the world, and the ECOWAS´s perspective on the challenges of the global Economy and discussions lead by, Chairmen, CEO´S from the international and regional business community and Government Ministers from the ECOWAS region and beyond the forum will set the agenda for the coming year.
