After receiving numerous emails on the artificial turf war between the Gates of Hillsboro and its resident, I decided to post a follow up story.

I must say it was not surprising the number of people that were absolutely fed up with Home Owners Associations. Perhaps, their usefulness has long expired but we still hang on to what might be. What we have today are organizations committed to putting American families out of their homes and gobbling up their monies.

It is true that not all associations are bad, but when they go bad, it seems they go VERY bad. In this case, I was asked for more pictures on the property involved as it seems petty that the association would go after a small spot of artificial grass when Florida is under severe drought and water restrictions.

So, I took my camera and with additional photos provided by the homeowner, we were able to show that it´s not just a large carpet of artificial grass, but the artificial grass was crafty incorporated in a much larger landscaping project. I also ascertain from the homeowner that plans were submitted in 2004 for the whole xeriscaping project with artificial grass noted as a possible substitute to mulch. After Hurricane Wilma in late 2005, the mulch was rendered useless when their two large trees shed all its leaves. It was then they restarted the project and this time used the artificial grass instead of mulch.
