So J.B. thanks for joining me, Iīm curious why did you decide to start Morning Coach?
Well I have been a personal development junkie for years and I had been to so many seminars and read the books and listened to the CDs and it was working and at the same time it was not working. Everything was running hot and cold for me. I wanted to establish some consistency and so a friend of mine actually had the idea that we should create a podcast show that was 15 minutes each day. We wanted to make it free to allow access and at the same time provide practical advice. We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, well getting the right kind of information the first part of the morning is critical too, so we launched Morningcoach.com.
How did you decide on 15 minutes?
Well it was trial and error, we felt that 30 minutes was a little too long and 7 to 8 minutes we were just getting started and our time was up so 15 just felt right. Many people listen to us on their commute into work. We also have it archived so if you miss a day, itīs real easy to get on morningcoach.com and listen to the archive.
Morningcoach is fairly new just over 8 months old, is it taking off like you planned?
Yeah, you know the sky is the limit. We have people listening from all over the world. We are consistently in the top five for itune downloads and we have a lot people on the call as well. I do the calls Monday through Friday and then we also have weekend shows, so morning coach is 7 days a week.
So whoīs listening, business execs, stay at home moms, what is your demographic?
I get emails everyday from people all over the world and itīs great. That has been the surprising thing really, we are hitting a cross-section of people. The other day I got a call from a friend and he said "J.B. you are not going to believe this but I went to work for this company in Southern Florida and the entire office listens to your calls in the morning."
Letīs talk a little about the information you are sharing, you have an MBA and a Ph.D. in Metaphysics, I saw your first video on Morning Coach and you are recommending a grounding exercise-which I thought was great. What do you say though to a busy exec who says, "JB I really donīt have time to sit with my feet in the grass, I donīt have time for that kind of stuff."
Well, I was one of those busy people and I was not very happy. I think the time excuse is something we have to revisit and I talk about time being pychological. This is one of those areas that I think is critical that we make time for and one of the most important things we can do is get that connection to our true being. Before we start using the laws of attraction or setting goals, we need to ground ourselves. If you don't do the inner work, you can end up chasing your tail around and around in circles. People say they don't have time, but we have to make the time.
Can we look forward to more videos?
We are still learning but we plan to have videos about every week. I think itīs the medium of the future and what people want to see.
